About The Pamlico House

Virginia Finnerty, a native of Honduras, came to the United States for college and has since lived in eight states. She graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. Virginia has been an elementary education teacher, an executive assistant, and a stay-at-home mom of 3 children. She is also passionate about philanthropy and has spent time volunteering with many educational, business, and civic organizations. She's also worked in human resources, retail sales, real estate, catering, and meeting & event planning.

The house is a Colonial Revival-style frame house built in 1906 by St. Peter Episcopal Church as a rectory. Sold in 1950 to the Capehart family, they lived in it for the next 30 years. In 1980 it was sold and completely refurbished to be used as a B&B for the next 15 years. The home was sold as a private home in 2004 and reopened as a B&B in late March 2010. The inn was shut down in 2020 because of the pandemic. It went through a total renovation and has now reopened in 2024.
